There is a reason for pain: 11 things that are suggested by shoulder and neck pain – by Rachel Mansharov

The neck and shoulders are two particularly sensitive areas exposed to various injuries during life as well as other problems that cause severe pain that we all want to get rid of. These pains are certainly unpleasant and may affect the normal way of life as well as the movements we can perform. There are a number of causes of these pains that are important to know and should not be ignored, as the pain and the physical and health conditions that lead to them may increase over time. The following causes of neck and shoulder pain may worsen over time and cause further health problems, and it is important to treat them in time to enjoy good general health, as well as to minimize pain in sensitive areas of the body.

1. Rheumatoid arthritis of the neck
We are used to thinking that arthritis affects mainly the area of the hands and feet, but forgets that the neck is also a joint. In cases of rheumatoid arthritis in the neck, there may be growth of bone spurs in the neck that cause inflammation and the formation of spaces between the vertebrae, which together cause severe pain in the neck and shoulders. Inflammation of this type only worsens as time passes, and it is important to diagnose and treat it to prevent further pain and irreversible damage to the neck.

2. Degeneration of intervertebral disc
As we age, various processes occur in our bodies, some of which involve degeneration and decreased functioning of certain parts and organs. One type of degenerative degeneration is called degenerative cervical disc disease, caused by the loss of elasticity and fluid in the discs between the lower vertebrae of the neck. This condition causes pain in my own face, but can also deteriorate into the rupture of vertebral discs and pressure on the nerves in the spinal cord. This condition, which only leads to more severe pain, can be prevented if the problem is detected in a timely manner, so it is important to diagnose it properly.

3. Continuous load on the shoulders
When you do bodywork that involves lifting various objects, you may have a condition called bursitis in the shoulder, which is an inflammation in the stocking bag that is located between the joints in the shoulder and filled with a lubricating fluid that is supposed to prevent contact between the joints. Over the years and due to repetitive movements done with the shoulders, bursitis is caused – emptying the stocking bag of fluids, which causes friction of the joints. The friction causes severe pain in the shoulder that causes, among other things, a “frozen shoulder” phenomenon, which is difficult to move beyond a certain point.

4. Damage to the rotators of the shoulder
Rotator cuff muscles are four muscles that connect the bone of the arm and the scapula. Their function is to rotate the arms back and forth, hence their name. Over the years, repetitive movements and injuries damage the function of the rotated shoulder muscles, leading to pain in this area. With time and without proper treatment, the pain and injury to these vital muscles leads to increased pain and posture problems that impair normal lifestyle. These muscles may have other problems such as calcification and tendon inflammation, which also cause pain, so it is important to diagnose them quickly for treatment, both for the causes of the pain and for the pain itself.

5. Whiplash
Whiplash is caused by sudden movement of the neck vertebrae back and forth when you get into an accident or make quick or incorrect movements with your body. Movement and pressure on the neck cause a tear that leads to severe pain in this area. In addition, there is a limited mobility of the neck and headaches at the base of the neck, which are certainly unpleasant. If you feel that you have made the wrong movement with the neck or cold that you have blocked too hard in the car and you started to feel pain afterwards, it is advisable to contact a doctor who will suit you before the condition worsens.

6. Wrong shoulder position
Today, many people work in office jobs where they sit for many hours, and this lack of movement can cause damage just like strenuous physical labor. While sitting in front of a computer, many people pull their shoulders forward and sit in a non-upright position, leading to certain muscle aches in the shoulder and pain in this area and in the neck. It is important to get up sometimes from the chair and move your shoulders, and of course not forget to sit straight to prevent pain and inability to function properly. 7. Physical exercise
Although it is important to exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle, when we make the wrong movements due to poor training or lack of training at all, we may experience severe pain in the shoulders and neck. As a result of intense exercise, the neck and other parts of the body can become dislocated, leading to pain. Muscle aches that naturally arise from exercise may blur the situation, but you should not ignore situations of pain in the neck and shoulders because it can lead to persistent inflammation and pain, which are definitely not desirable results of exercise.

8. Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition manifested in pain in various parts of the body and also in heavy fatigue. There are currently no tests to diagnose this condition, but many people experience it without being aware of it. Fibromyalgia can cause pain in the neck and shoulders that people dismiss because of a busy lifestyle or other reasons, but there may be a hidden reason. Chronic pain in the neck and shoulders that have no physical cause may result from fibromyalgia, so consult with a specialist and see if there are other symptoms that are typical of this problem to treat it best.

9. Disc breakout
Most of us have heard of a disc herniation that occurs in the lumbar vertebrae, but this condition may also occur in the neck area. The cervical vertebrae are particularly sensitive and can occur between disc jerks that come out pressing on nearby nerves, leading to pain in the neck and shoulders. The friction between the vertebrae and the lubricant between them also causes pain, which is an unpleasant combination between two situations that lead to great discomfort. It is possible to treat cases of disc herniation in a variety of ways today, but it is important to first diagnose them, and this can only be done if you know the pain and go to check their source.

10. Subcutaneous cerebral hemorrhage
This is a serious condition that should be treated quickly because it can cause severe disability or death in extreme cases. Subcranial cerebral hemorrhage occurs between the spider layer and the cerebral cortex and is accompanied by intense headache, confusion, vomiting, and neck and neck pain. This type of hemorrhage occurs as a result of trauma to the body or brain aneurysm, and should be treated to prevent brain rupture and disability. When you feel stiffness and neck and neck pain accompanied by other symptoms, you should seek immediate treatment and not ignore the pain and hope that it will go away on its own.

11. Strep throat infection
Ankylosing spondylitis is a disease that affects mainly men and may lead to problems other than neck and shoulder problems, such as damage to health, vision, blood vessels and even the digestive tract. Inflammation of vertebrae is an inflammatory disease that affects the vertebrae of the spine and is characterized by pain in the neck and shoulders and sometimes in other parts of the body. Besides the pain noted, this inflammation is also accompanied by a feeling of stiffness of the upper body in the morning, anemia, lack of appetite, weight loss, fatigue and low and constant fever. These symptoms are unpleasant in and of themselves, and with pain accompaniment it is certainly not advisable to ignore them because of the possible deterioration that may occur due to this inflammation.
