The neck and shoulders are two particularly sensitive areas exposed to various injuries during life as well as other problems that cause severe pain that we all want to get rid of. These pains are certainly unpleasant and may affect the normal way of life as well as the movements we can perform. There are a number of causes of these pains that are important to know and should not be ignored, as the pain and the physical and health conditions that lead to them may increase over time. 1. Rheumatoid arthritis of the neck
We are used to thinking that arthritis affects mainly the area of the hands and feet, but forgets that the neck is also a joint. This condition causes pain in my own face, but can also deteriorate into the rupture of vertebral discs and pressure on the nerves in the spinal cord. This condition, which only leads to more severe pain, can be prevented if the problem is detected in a timely manner, so it is important to diagnose it properly.
3. Continuous load on the shoulders
When you do bodywork that involves lifting various objects, you may have a condition called bursitis in the shoulder, which is an inflammation in the stocking bag that is located between the joints in the shoulder and filled with a lubricating fluid that is supposed to prevent contact between the joints. Over the years and due to repetitive movements done with the shoulders, bursitis is caused – emptying the stocking bag of fluids, which causes friction of the joints. The friction causes severe pain in the shoulder that causes, among other things, a “frozen shoulder” phenomenon, which is difficult to move beyond a certain point.
4. Damage to the rotators of the shoulder
Rotator cuff muscles are four muscles that connect the bone of the arm and the scapula. Their function is to rotate the arms back and forth, hence their name. Over the years, repetitive movements and injuries damage the function of the rotated shoulder muscles, leading to pain in this area. With time and without proper treatment, the pain and injury to these vital muscles leads to increased pain and posture problems that impair normal lifestyle. These muscles may have other problems such as calcification and tendon inflammation, which also cause pain, so it is important to diagnose them quickly for treatment, both for the causes of the pain and for the pain itself.
Whiplash is caused by sudden movement of the neck vertebrae back and forth when you get into an accident or make quick or incorrect movements with your body. Movement and pressure on the neck cause a tear that leads to severe pain in this area. In addition, there is a limited mobility of the neck and headaches at the base of the neck, which are certainly unpleasant. 6. Wrong shoulder position
Today, many people work in office jobs where they sit for many hours, and this lack of movement can cause damage just like strenuous physical labor. 7. Physical exercise
Although it is important to exercise to maintain a healthy lifestyle, when we make the wrong movements due to poor training or lack of training at all, we may experience severe pain in the shoulders and neck.
